Enigma Variations
The Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar inspired me to create a series of abstract portraits. Elgar sketched musical portraits of his friends, but never revealed the true meaning behind the word Enigma – a silence that only deepened the mystery.
His friends inspired him, his music inspired me. These are my visual sketches: abstract portraits in warm reds and oranges, each one carrying its own hidden character. What you recognize in them is up to you – maybe yourself, maybe someone close to you.
