Phrases are drawn live in the theater, during the rehearsal of a choreography. The dancers in the light on stage, the visual artist as the only audience. In the darkness of the auditorium, I translate my experience of the dance into charcoal on paper. Purely intuitive, purely by feel. The movement of an arm, a leg, the approach of two dancers, or perhaps a larger group. It is a moment. It is in the moment.
Each Phrase is unique, just as every movement in space and time is unique.
